We conduct Site and Soil Evaluations for use in conjunction with Development Applications. Many shires may request a site and soil evaluation (SSE) if you have plans to build or develop on existing land.
The process assesses factors such as soil type, infiltration rates, environmental factors relative to location in respect of water ways, sewage sensitive areas, rainfall, evaporation rates, distance to bores, necessity for wastewater treatment systems or suitability for septics etc.

An SSE is a written report that examines the various aspects of a site in relation to sewage collection, treatment, and on-site disposal to ensure adequate management over time.

Firstly a site investigation is conducted with soil sampling generally required to a depth of 1.5 m along with intensive desktop and written reporting components. For more information refer to the Guidance on SSE provided by Department of Health.

We carry out other exploratory soil sampling such as:
-
Utilising plastic tubes to 1.5m to capture completely undisturbed samples for larger carbon projects.
-
Assessments of potential deposits in paddocks.
-
Soil sampling for emergency response for spills such as oil and grease/hydrocarbons. Contaminated Sites Assessments
We can also assist with the design and selection of aerated waste water treatment systems and land application/irrigation areas to finalise SSE reports for Councils and Shires.

We have various equipment and capacity for sampling:
-
Wintex 3000 soil sampler for soil nutrition programs (splits to 3 depths anywhere to 90 cm)
-
Christie Hydraulic mounted sampler for carbon sampling
-
Christie post rammer and probes for carbon and other sampling in less accessible areas
-
57mm/1.5 m probes
-
50 mm/1.2 m probes
-
50 mm/1.5 m probes
-
38 mm1.2 m probes
-
38 mm/1.5 m probes
-
extension to 3 m probes
We can source extensions to sample down to 10m if needed.
